ASFI – is Assisted Sperm Fusion Insemination. During the procedure, spermatozoa are selected based on their ability to attach to the egg.

Advantages:

• Spermatozoa are selected objectively, based on their ability to attach to the egg.
• The integrity of the mature egg is not compromised, which reduces the probability of its degeneration to 0%.
• Particularly effective in older patients – when there is a small ovarian reserve and low-quality eggs are obtained.

Disadvantages:

• The procedure may take up to 3-4 hours to complete.
• The procedure is only possible if the sperm quality is good. The embryologist makes the decision regarding this.
